Fit out work underway as main construction work completed at Alexandra Park

The main construction work on the final phase of Tunstall’s Alexandra Park development is completed, and the Home Bargains fit out team have moved onto site this week to transform the largest unit into a brand new store.

Home Bargains is one of the fastest growing discount stores in the country and the company is planning to open its new Tunstall store in April. It's estimated that between 30 and 40 new jobs will be created in the area.

The company has taken a 15,000 sq. ft. unit which will neighbour the frozen food retailer Iceland where internal fit out work has also started ready for a store opening on March 11th. Home Bargains is scheduled to open in mid-April.

Next week work will also start on the internal work of the Card Factory unit ready for a mid-March opening. The new retail line-up leaves just two smaller retail units available at the centre.

The recently completed retail units at Alexandra Park sit alongside the Boots Pharmacy and Primary Care Centre which both opened in September 2011, the centre also houses a DW Fitness Gym and store and a Carphone Warehouse. 

The development is built around a central car park with good links to the town centre and is also home to the impressive Shard sculpture. Work started on this final phase of the project in July last year.

Head of Communications at Dransfield Properties Amanda Holmes, said: “We are delighted to see work progressing on the internal fit outs of the new stores at Alexandra Park and look forward to seeing the stores completed and opening later in the spring.

"We are still marketing the two smaller units and hope to be making an announcement soon about which companies will be joining Iceland, Home Bargain and Card Factory.  This is the final phase of our project in Tunstall and it is great to see the main work now completed."
