Dransfield race to £50K charity target!
18 April 2007
Barnsley based regeneration specialists Dransfield Properties raised a staggering £50,000 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity this weekend after fielding a team in the charity’s annual 10K race. They joined almost 1,000 runners in the run, who braved sweltering temperatures on the hottest day of the year so far in a bid to raise funds for entertainment systems for the hospital’s young patients.
Dransfield Properties has supported the children’s hospital for two years now, and as well as being the prime sponsor of the 10k race, the 30 strong team of runners secured corporate pledges from business partners and donations from friends and colleagues.
Funds raised by the company in previous years are being used to deliver a £60,000 refurbishment of the waiting room in the hospital’s oncology department which treats young cancer sufferers and provides support to their families.
Mark Dransfield, Managing Director, said: “Once again I’d like to thank all the Dransfield runners and everybody who has supported the Children’s Hospital Charity. The heat did slow us down a little, but we raised an amazing amount of money for the charity, which provides such valuable support for ill children and their families."
Simon Athey, fundraiser at the hospital added: “The 10K race gets better every year and we’ve had a great response. Hundreds of people line up to do their bit to help the hospital and we are really grateful to Dransfield Properties for their continuing support.”
