Financial advice firm announces relocation to Penistone’s Gateway development

5 June 2013

The Yorkshire based financial advice firm QED Financial Associates Ltd is the first company to announce it’s moving to the new Gateway project which is underway in Penistone, South Yorkshire.

Currently based in Holmfirth the firm is taking a 1,310 sq ft commercial unit in the new development which is due to be completed in October. The company specialises in all aspects of financial planning and advice – including pensions, savings, investments and mortgages.

Work started at the beginning of May on the Gateway project and a soil cutting ceremony was held last week to celebrate the long awaited project getting underway in the town.

The transformation of this key site, which fronts St Mary’s Street, is the final piece of the jigsaw of the town centre development which has been delivered by Barnsley based company Dransfield Properties Ltd, working in partnership with Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council.

Six new commercial units as well as offices, a car park and a shared lobby area will be delivered in the project which has been designed by the same architects who worked on the first phase, including the award winning market building.

Wayne Harper and Mark Sanderson two of the Directors of QED say the move will allow their established team to expand and grow.

Wayne added: “We are really looking forward to relocating to Penistone. We are going to have much more space in a great location. The move to the Gateway will also give us the opportunity in the future to take on more staff and expand.”

The QED team will take one of the six new commercial units fronting St Mary’s Street, the development will also offer office space. The development has been designed by the same architects who worked on the first phase, including the award winning market building.

Development surveyor at Dransfield Properties, Dave Hale, said QED is the one of a number of company’s already keen to take space in the new project.

“We are delighted that the team from QED is moving to the Gateway and we look forward to making further announcements as our work progresses on site in Penistone. People can obviously see that things are happening on site now and we are getting a good amount of interest in the development which is great news for the area,” he said.

Dransfield Properties has attracted £1.2 million of investment from the European Union to bring forward this final phase of the project with grant funding through the European Regional Development Fund as part of the support for the region's economic development through the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme 2007-13.

The earlier phases of the £15 million town centre regeneration scheme included a new Tesco foodstore and town centre car park as well as an award winning oak built market hall. The town’s fire and ambulance stations were also relocated in 2009 to brand new purpose built premises at Springvale in Penistone.
