William Hague MP visits Marshalls Yard

28 April 2006

Shadow Foreign Secretary William Hague MP dropped in on the Marshalls Yard development this week, as part of a wider visit to see how the market town of Gainsborough is benefiting from both public and private investment.

Mr Hague was given a tour of the site and shown how this former engineering site will transform into a £39 million mixed use scheme.

The former leader of the conservative party was able to see the good progress which has been made on the site since construction started in January this year.

Steelwork has been erected on the new buildings which will become home to Allied Carpets and JJB.  Mezzanine floors have been installed on these buildings and the concrete floors are being put in.

The historic Britannia House, which will become retail units on the ground floor and office space at the first floor, now has the shop fronts which will serve Carphone Warehouse, Specsavers, Greggs and Ilkeston Co-op Travel.
