16 April 2008
TWO more national retailers have joined the tenant line up for the £32 million Sanderson Arcade scheme in Morpeth - which is set to revitalise the town centre.
Leading UK retailer New Look and Timpson, who have more than 550 stores across the UK and Ireland, are the latest retailers to sign up for the scheme. They’re both taking space within the 85,000 sq ft development which is due to get underway later this year.
One of the most popular high street fashion stores, New Look will be occupying a 11,000 sq ft unit within Sanderson Arcade which is a significant investment into the scheme. New Look will trading from 8,000 sq feet of the unit, with a large range of ladies wear, teen fashion as well as their all new menswear range. Timpson will be occupying one of the kiosk units within the arcade square.
The scheme has been designed to attract more national retailers to the North East market town which will in turn recapture trade – bringing money back into Morpeth.
Developers Dransfield Properties Ltd and Ethel Austin Properties Ltd have also bought the vacant Noble Amusements unit on Bridge Street which is due to undergo a full refurbishment and will be incorporated within the new scheme as further retail space and will also provide a prime retail shop front on Bridge Street.
Significant progress is being made with the development and the development team are working towards starting demolition works on the site within the next couple of months.
Currently the tenant line up also includes anchor tenant Marks and Spencer, national retailers Starbucks and O2 as well as local retailers Healthi Choice, Ladbrokes and The Jewellers Guild.
Mark Dransfield, Managing Director of Dransfield Properties said: “We are delighted to be announcing that two more national retailers have signed up to this flagship scheme and are confident that there will be many more to follow.
“Our aim is to obtain the best possible tenant line up for the scheme in order to enhance the town’s economy. The interest that has been shown in the scheme is extremely positive and I have no doubt we will indeed achieve more great household names for Sanderson Arcade.”
