Exciting new chapter on the cards for popular Selby store

A popular Selby town centre store has relocated at Market Cross, with Elaine’s Cards celebrating its new home at the centre.

Formerly known as Alexander Cards, the long‑standing store has moved from the Gowthorpe entrance of Market Cross, to a spot opposite Costa Coffee – in between Savers and Hair Innovation.

The big move was marked with a special ribbon‑cutting event, and a visit from children’s favourite Bluey.

The family-run store offers an extensive range of affordable greeting cards for every occasion, alongside gifts, seasonal items and thoughtful keepsakes. 

Elaine and her daughter Kirstie, who own and manage the business have built up a great following in recent years for their impressive balloon displays and personalised gifting options - forming a key part of the store’s growing offer.

Owned and managed by local Selby businesswoman, Elaine Yarrow for the past three years - and a fixture of Market Cross for more than 15 - the business is now entering an exciting new chapter with a fresh new look.

The move marks the first part of a major programme of investment and transformation at Market Cross in the coming weeks, including new tenants joining the centre and improvements to the seating and landscaping area, as well as colourful new shopfronts.

Elaine said: “We are really pleased that the opportunity has arisen for us to relocate to a space that really suits the current and future needs of the business. The new space offers improved visibility and a more flexible layout, allowing us to enhance the overall shopping experience.”
