21 April 2010
DRANSFIELD Properties accountant Steve Stead will be joining the 51,000 runners pounding the streets of London at the weekend to take part in this year's Marathon.
Steve, 31, has clocked up more than 900 miles since finding out last October that he'd secured a spot in this year's event which will be the 29th London Marathon. He's been getting up at 5.30am to cover a few miles before heading to work at Dransfield Properties HQ.
Steve is a veteran of the Leeds Abbey Dash and the Sheffield Children's Hospital 10k run and he completed the Nottingham Marathon 18 months ago.
So far the longest run he's tackled in training for this weekend is 22 miles and he's hoping to complete the marathon's 26.2 mile course in 3 hrs 30 minutes.
Steve whos from Penistone, said: "Its the biggest race I've taken part in and I'm really looking forward to it - but I've taken the day off work on Monday to recover!"
Steve is taking part in the marathon to raise money for The Stroke Association, if you'd like to support him visit his Just Giving site at http://www.justgiving.co.uk/steve-stead
Good luck Steve - we'll all be watching out for you on Sunday!
