Developers raise £28,000 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital
29 August 2007
Barnsley based developers Dransfield Properties have raised a tremendous £28,000 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital after fielding a team in the charity’s annual 10K race in April this year to help fund the first patient interactive entertainment and education system in ward S3 of the hospital.
They joined almost 1,000 runners in the run, who braved sweltering temperatures on what seemed to be the hottest day of 2007 in a bid to raise funds for patient interactive education and entertainment systems for the hospital’s young patients.
The bedside entertainment system will enable children within the hospital to keep in contact with the outside world as well as catering for their educational and social needs whilst undergoing treatments.
The new entertainment system will be launched as a pilot scheme onto the S3 ward in November 2007.
Jackie Helliwell, Public Relations Co-ordinator for Dransfield Properties said: “We are delighted to have raised such a substantial amount for the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and strongly believe that the Patient interactive education and entertainment systems will enormously benefit the patients of the hospital. We would like to thank all the colleagues and friends who have supported us in this event and we are looking forward to taking part in next year’s race where we hope to raise even more funds for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity trust.
