Yeomans Joins St Andrew’s Retail Park Line-up in Hull

Yeomans Outdoor – the UK’s largest independent camping and outdoors retailer – is taking a unit at Hull’s popular St Andrew’s Retail Park.

Yeomans brand new unit covers 3,830 sq ft and sits alongside Wilkinsons, which opened last year on the busy Hessle Road development.

It’s the second Yeomans store to open on a Dransfield Properties development this year. The Chesterfield based company which has 72 stores nationwide opened at Market Cross in Selby in July.

Yeomans are also planning to take a unit on the company’s prestigious flagship Sanderson Arcade development in Morpeth Northumberland which is currently under construction.

The Selby store was the first in the country to be fitted out in the company’s new design and layout since a management buy out took place earlier in the year.

Yeomans started trading in 1904 dealing mainly in saddlery and associated equipment, since then the business has diversified over the years, seeing a rise in sales of ex-army clothes during the war and in more recent times selling camping equipment and outdoor wear.

The company specialises in good quality value for money outdoor clothing and footwear as well as camping equipment.

Operations Director for Yeomans Roger Milner said: “We are trading very well at the moment, with the present credit crunch and the cost of travelling abroad rising, more people are enjoying holidays in the UK and returning to a traditional camping holiday.

“We are currently seeing a great increase in the numbers of people camping and since the management buy out we are looking to move the company on to the next stage.

“We are really looking forward to opening in Hull and bringing our great range to Hessle Road.”

The company is due to start fitting out in time for a November opening.

David Hale, development surveyor for Dransfield Properties Ltd, said: “We are delighted that Yeomans are taking the unit at Hessle Road, it is a busy and thriving shopping destination and the new Yeomans store will be a great addition to the range of shops which are there. We look forward to them opening for business.”

The Hessle Road unit was let by Leeds based agents Rees Denton.
