Plans to deliver brand new development in east Hull

New plans to deliver an attractive retail development on a run down site in east Hull are due to be determined by the council’s planning committee next week.

The proposed development is in a key location at the corner of Mount Pleasant and Holderness Road and has been carefully designed to fit in with the existing street scene and link with the district centre.

Officers have recommended that the plans from South Yorkshire based Dransfield Properties  for the three new units and 90 space  car park be approved when they meet on Wednesday April 2nd.

The new development neighbours The Mount Retail Park which was also developed by Dransfield Properties Ltd and opened in 2003, since that time there has been an aspiration for further development in the area.

The plans were submitted to Hull City Council in January and its anticipated that the proposals to regenerate this run down site in the city will create around around 50 new jobs.

Two existing retail units which are currently empty, fronting Holderness Road will be re-furbished and brought back into use as part of the overall project. 

The proposals will also deliver:
• A new 25,000 sq. ft. store
• Further retail units of 2,000sqft, 1,500sqft and 1,000sqft
• District centre car park with approx. 90 spaces

Head of Communications at Dransfield Properties, Amanda Holmes, said: “We are delighting to be bringing forward these proposals for the Holderness Road / Mount Pleasant site and pleased that it will be discussed by the planning committee next week with a recommendation for approval.

"If our proposals are supported by the planning committee we hope to be on site and starting work in June this year.”
