Plans submitted for M&S Food Hall at north Sheffield shopping centre
4 July 2025
A brand-new 24,000 sq. ft. Marks and Spencer foodhall is planned for Fox Valley in north Sheffield, designed to bring the very best of M&S Food to the local community.
Fox Valley owners Dransfield Properties Ltd have submitted a planning application this month for the new foodhall, which would complete the run of stores at the eastern end of the award-winning centre, alongside Home Bargains, Iceland, Aldi and Costa Coffee.
The new foodhall would offer the best possible shopping experience for customers with an array of fresh fruit and vegetables sourced from M&S’ Select Farm partners, an in-store bakery serving bread and pastries, as well as takeaway hot drinks, and dedicated Flower and Wine shops.
A Click & Collect point would mean customers can easily collect their fashion, home and beauty favourites ordered via the M&S website.
The store would stock the full range of M&S Food products, meaning more price benchmarked Remarksable Value essentials, Eat Well options and of course, the latest innovative new product launches.
An estimated 60 new jobs would be created if planning permission is granted, joining the more than 4,000 colleagues M&S employs in Yorkshire. The new building will cover 24,000 sq. ft. with a 16,000 sq. ft. sales area.
The foodhall will be housed in a new building on the land next to Costa Coffee, offering more choice for shoppers at this particular part of the centre.
If the proposals are given the go ahead the new store will open in autumn 2026 – just as the centre celebrates its 10th birthday – with work estimated to start later this year.
The multi-million-pound plans are the latest in a number of positive developments and new investment at the centre so far this year. This Spring, Fox Valley saw the launch of the UK’s first new format Gallery furniture and homewares store, opened by the family-owned company Shackletons. The Doctor led medi-spa The Wellness Space also opened in May.
Managing Director of Dransfield Properties, James Shepherd, said: “Marks and Spencer is the retail name that consistently comes up with our shoppers whenever there is a discussion about new retailers coming to Fox Valley. The new foodhall is going to be really well received, and we’re absolutely delighted to be able to share this news with our shoppers and tenants.
“We have worked with Marks and Spencer in other locations across our company’s portfolio, and it’s fantastic to be able to work together with the company on the vision for their new store here in Stocksbridge. If planning is approved, we will be marking the opening of the Fox Valley M&S as the centre celebrates its 10th birthday in 2026 – this part of north Sheffield has undergone a great deal of growth and investment in that decade and we are very proud to be a part of that.”
Will Smith, Property Director at M&S, added: “As we reshape for growth, we are always on the search for fantastic sites to open new stores. We’re incredibly excited about the opportunity to open a showstopping food store at Fox Valley, allowing us to bring more M&S Food favourites to more customers, including from our Yorkshire-based suppliers and farmers, create 60 new local jobs and grow our footprint across Sheffield.”
