Plans Go On View for Royton Regeneration Scheme
23 March 2012
Ambitious plans to regenerate Royton Town Centre will go on display in the town next week in a public consultation session due to be held by the project’s developers Dransfield Properties Ltd.
Oldham Council last month entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Yorkshire based Dransfield Properties to deliver a major regeneration scheme in Royton.
And the company is now seeking the public’s views on its proposals for the area which will include the delivery of a fully integrated foodstore and a remodelling of the existing district centre. The £22.5 million development will bring up to 300 new jobs to the town and will deliver:
- A new 320 space town centre car park
- A new 50,000 sq ft foodstore with petrol filling station
- New and replacement shopping facilities
- Improved markets area
- New doctors surgery
- Improvements to the public realm and highway
Plans and artists impressions will be on display at the open session which will take place on Monday March 26th at Royton Youth Centre on Chapel Street from 1pm to 9pm. Visitors will be able to discuss the proposals with members of the development team and give their feedback on the plans for their town.
Head of Communications at Dransfield Properties Amanda Holmes said: “We know there is a good deal of interest in the plans and we want to hear from residents, businesses, local traders and stakeholders about their views on our proposals.
“We will be gathering all the feedback from Monday’s event as part of our consultation process and this will be an integral part of shaping the planning application.
“We want to deliver a scheme which will bring real benefit and regeneration to the town centre and consultation is a vital part of getting that right.”
