Management team in the market to get inspired

The management team from retail property firm Dransfield Properties have been on a fact finding trip to some of the UK’s most famous markets, researching successful retail environments.

The South Yorkshire based company has built up a strong reputation for delivering high quality retail destinations across the country – the management team also works closely with local partners on delivering markets and events.

And to find out how some of the best markets in the country are run and operated the eight strong team, who run the company’s award winning centres, spent the weekend in the capital visiting London’s iconic markets.

They visited markets including Borough Market, Brick Lane and Portobello Road – as well as a number of other retail and restaurant destination.

The team also had the chance to share ideas with colleagues working in London and to pick up some top tips about what makes a really successful market work well.

Management Surveyor James Shepherd, who heads up the DPL management team, was joined by head office staff as well as the teams from both Marshall’s Yard in Gainsborough and Sanderson Arcade in Morpeth.

James said: “It was a great opportunity to really look behind the scenes at some of the most successful and busy markets in the country and understand how they get the mix of stallholders and tenants right and what really works well on a market or any retail environment.

“We pride ourselves on the partnership work we do with markets on our centres and we’ve all come away with lots of ideas which we’re looking forward to sharing as well as putting some of them into practice on our own centres.”

The team at Dransfield Properties manage over 511,000 sq. ft. of retail space. As well as centres in Morpeth and Gainsborough the firm also owns developments in Manchester, Selby and Tunstall in Stoke on Trent.
