Dransfield Properties Ltd completes 26th Aldi project

14 February 2022

Dransfield Properties Managing Director, Mark Dransfield said he was proud to be part of a project that will provide new facilities to an underserved area and reduce travel time and traffic impact, vastly improving the local area.

He said: “DPL worked closely with all tenants to help them successfully relocate to better and more modern premises across Huddersfield. A total of 40 people employed by the businesses were kept in employment.

“We are delighted to see this project come to fruition and for Aldi to now take the reins to create a modern and attractive supermarket on the site. This project will regenerate the local area and provide employment opportunities for another 40 people. This is urban regeneration at its very best.”

Work to clear the site included demolition of the existing mill buildings and the relocation of  Vodaphone and O2 to a new telecommunications mast on surplus land within the site.

Wakefield-based Metropolitan Demolition cleared the site, which resulted in an unusually high level of recyclable materials, including stone, timber and slate which was reclaimed for reuse in the building industry .

The new store, which Aldi believe to be the best foodstore site in Huddersfield,  is  in the affluent area of Lindley on the main arterial route between Huddersfield and the M62.Construction is expected to get underway in February.
