A new pottery painting studio will open in Selby this summer

25 March 2021

Selby is set to get a new pottery painting studio this summer, just in time for indoor restrictions easing in May.

The Painting Pot, headed up by Elaina Wynne from Selby, will open on New Lane, adjacent to the Market Cross shopping centre later this summer bringing a fun new leisure facility to the town.

Once officially open, Elaina has plans to offer private hire for children’s and adult’s parties, evening prosecco and pottery workshops and much more.

At the Painting Pot, crafters of all ages and abilities will be able to decorate anything from dinner sets, vases and wax burners to pet bowls, kids fictional character figurines and even baby handprint and pet paw print keepsakes.

A Potter’s Wheel experience is also planned for July - renowned professional potter, Rachel Byass, will be holding one-to-one sessions for your very own pottery throwdown experience.

Elaina has always had the vision to set up her own business, and with a background in Marketing and Design plus her passion for pottery paining, she began trading from a market stall at Carlton Towers selling pottery kits and developing a popular Facebook page before decided to expand the business by opening a new studio in Selby town centre.

Elaina said: “I am really looking forward to welcoming everyone in Selby to the Painting Pot when we open our doors later this summer, pottery paining is a really fun and relaxing activity where people of all ages and abilities can come along and create their very own masterpiece!

“New Lane is the perfect location with great footfall and we have space to host birthday parties, hen do’s and workshops which I cannot wait to develop”.

Estates Surveyor for Dransfield Properties, Alisdair Gillespie said: “We are delighted to welcome Elaina to New Lane and wish her the very best in her new premises.

“The Painting Pot will make a fantastic, unique addition to Selby Town centre and will be somewhere for people to meet up and enjoy when restrictions ease later in the year”.
