Estate agency joins line up at Penistone’s new Gateway project

20 September 2013

The leading local estate agency Simon Blyth is moving to the new Gateway development which is currently under construction on St Mary’s Street in the town.

Simon Blyth has six offices across West and South Yorkshire including a busy Penistone branch which will move to the company’s brand new unit at the Gateway development later in the year.

A four strong team will deal with lettings and sales from the Penistone branch giving the estate agency more window space as well as a much better office layout for both staff and customers.

Simon Blyth Estate Agents handle a wide range of residential properties in both urban and rural areas with commuting access to northern motorway networks and major Yorkshire centres. The company also has offices in Barnsley, Huddersfield, Wakefield, Kirkburton and Holmfirth.

Proprietor Simon Blyth said: “We have an established team in the Penistone area and are proud to have been part of the town for many years now. We had been looking for new premises and we’re really excited to have the opportunity to be part of the regeneration of this part of the town.

“The Gateway is in a great position and is going to incorporate some lovely traditional architecture with the modern office space that we need to continue to grow our business here in Penistone.

“We’re looking forward to continuing to handle the sales and lettings in the Penistone area from our new premises and will be moving in time for Christmas.”

The Yorkshire based financial advice firm QED Financial is also taking one of the six units and further announcements will be made over the next few weeks.

The transformation of this key site in Penistone is the final piece of the jigsaw of the town centre development which has been delivered by the Barnsley based company Dransfield Properties Ltd.

As well as six new commercial units fronting St Mary’s Street the development will also include offices, a car park and a shared lobby area – reflecting the award winning architecture of the neighbouring market building.

Development surveyor for Dransfield Properties, David Hale, said: “Simon Blyth is a great  Yorkshire company and we are delighted the Penistone team will be moving to the Gateway later this year.

“We’ve had a great deal of interest from other companies interested in the remaining space and we are also starting to market the office space now that the building is starting to take shape on site.”

Building work is on schedule for the commercial units to be completed by the end of November with work on the offices due to finish early in 2014.

Dransfield Properties has attracted £1.2 million of investment from the European Union to bring forward this final phase of the project with grant funding through the European Regional Development Fund as part of the support for the region's economic development through the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme 2007-13.

The earlier phases of the £15 million town centre regeneration scheme included a new Tesco foodstore and town centre car park as well as an award winning oak built market hall. The town’s fire and ambulance stations were also relocated in 2009 to brand new purpose built premises at Springvale in Penistone.
