The UK’s largest independent camping and outdoors retailer, Yeoman’s Outdoor, has opened it doors to shoppers in Selby.

Yeoman’s are the latest retailer to open for business in the successful Market Cross Shopping Centre which is owned by Dransfield Properties and Ethel Austin Properties Ltd.

The Selby store is the first in the country to be fitted out in the company’s new design and layout as it’s the newest outlet to be opened since a management buy out at Yeoman’s earlier this year.

The unit at Market Cross is 1,042 sq ft and sits alongside the Selby District Council One Stop Shop and Phones 4 U.

Elaine Allan, area manager for Yeoman’s, said: “We are pleased to be opening here in Selby. There’s already been a great deal of interest and we are delighted to be  trading here.”

Store manager Tracy Jones said the first weekend at Selby had been busy as more people are turning to camping holidays this summer. She added: “We have had a lot of interest in tents this weekend and we are really pleased with how our first weekend has gone.”

David Hale, development surveyor for Dransfield Properties Ltd, said: “It’s great news that Yeoman’s have taken our final unit at Market Cross, they are a great addition to an already busy and thriving retail centre and we are delighted to be welcoming them to Selby.”

Market Cross, which is now fully let, has undergone a major refurbishment since Dransfield Properties and Ethel Austin Properties took over the site. There are also ambitious plans to further extend Market Cross and bring more High Street retailers to Selby.

The unit was let by agents Rees Denton.
