Work gets underway on latest phase of development at Five Valleys in Stroud
13 September 2024
The latest phase of construction work at the Five Valleys centre in Stroud has started this month – delivering new retail, office and residential space in the heart of the town centre.
The steelwork has been erected in the courtyard area at Five Valleys, it marks the start of this latest project at the town centre development which is scheduled for completion by summer 2025.
This latest programme of work at the centre will create new office and retail units in the space neighbouring Santander and Rough Hands Coffee joining the upper mall, accessed off King Street, with the main mall area.
Around 2,140sq. ft. of ground floor retail space will be delivered as well as high quality, first floor office accommodation of around 2,000sq. ft. which will be accessed from the upper floor of the Five Valleys car park. The work will also open up space for executive town centre apartments.
The plans represent a further investment in excess of £1.5m – part of the phased £30m programme of improvements at the centre which has undergone a major transformation over the last six year.
The last eighteen months has seen the completion of the town’s new Medical Centre at Five Valleys as well as the new Stroud Library. A striking office building was also completed earlier in the summer for the award-winning Gloucestershire conveyancing firm Montpellier Legal.
The investment in the town has delivered an influx of new businesses at Five Valleys with further announcements due later this month. Sports Direct and Peacocks have already joined the retail line up this year and there has been a year-on-year increase in visitor numbers.
Five Valleys owners, the Yorkshire based property company, Dransfield Properties Ltd, is working with a host of local contractors on the latest project including AJ Lowther and S&B Bennett. The company would also like to hear from local plumbers, decorators and joiners who are interested in working on this and future Five Valleys projects.
Managing Director at Dransfield Properties, James Shepherd said: “It is great to see this latest phase of work at the centre now underway – continuing the transformation we started in 2018. There is a high demand for both office and retail space at Five Valleys just now and the new building is in a great location between the two mall areas.
“The last twelve months has really seen the centre establish and grow in terms of visitor numbers and with new national and local businesses as well as key town centre facilities joining our line-up.
“We’re pleased to be working with local companies to deliver this further enhancement to Five Valleys, creating opportunities for local businesses through the construction phase as well as for businesses to locate and grow here in Stroud town centre.”
