The charity was established fifteen years ago and is run through the support of grants such as Support Adoption for Pets.

All vet treatment is done locally Vets 4 Pets Barnsley and local groomer Julia Ogden of Dogzi K9 Grooming came on board 18 months ago and grooms all the rescues dogs before rehoming. The charity aims to form positive relationships within the community in order to achieve the best outcome for the dogs they rescue.

The team at West Yorkshire Dog Rescue fund veterinary treatments and the work doesn’t stop there, as they also aim to educate new owners throughout and after the adoption process. Owners are given a detailed behavioural and medical assessment to help them settle in to their new home.

“We are looking for volunteers within the community, schools and youth services to give our young people, a chance of work experience.”

The new Penistone centre can be found at St Mary’s Street at Penistone 1, next door to QED Financial Services.

Alistair Gillespie, management surveyor at Dransfield Properties, said: “We are delighted to welcome Jane and her team to Penistone 1 and wish the charity all the very best in their new premises.”
