Selby hairdressers celebrates 30 years of business at town centre salon

Hair Innovations based at Market Cross Shopping Centre in Selby is celebrating three decades of cuts, colours and blow dries this week. 

Run by stylist Elaine Turner, who is originally from Scunthorpe and opened the salon in 1988, is the longest serving tenant at the town centre shopping centre.

With an ambition to grow the business, following a successful launch, it wasn’t long before Elaine became business partners with Tracy Pears in 1998. 

Tracy joined the team in 1994 and became a business partner with Elaine in 1998. Tracy was focussed on training the younger members of the team as well as having her own busy client base. 

30 years on, the team attribute their success to the high standards of the staff employed and put a lot of time, effort, training and development in to their team. 

Priding themselves on in house training backed up by Wella Technician demonstrations, the team are able to offer guidance and advice on the best way to use the latest products and achieve the best styles using creative techniques. 

Keeping up to date with the latest trends, styles and fashion is also key to the team’s success. 

Whilst big volume curly perms were all the fashion in the 80’s when the salon first opened its doors, its straight, wavy or soft kinks that customers seek today. The team pride themselves on complimentary consultations, good professional service and advice and more importantly, aftercare.

Business Owner Elaine said: “We have seen styles come and go over the years – from the big volume curly perms to the slick, straight shiny trend of today and we work hard to ensure that we can meet the demands and needs of today’s clients.

“Our team are very loyal and extremely hard working. We have some members of the team that have been with us since the very first day we opened and others include school leavers who quite literally began their hairdressing career here.

“We offer all aspects of hairdressing to all ages; we’ve seen families with small children through the years who have since married and now bring their own children to the salon.

“We would love to see old and new customers join us and celebrate 30 years, pop along for a free consultation, patch test and receive a free Goody bag!”

The salon offers a structured price list to suit all pockets and houses a wide range of hair and beauty services along with Wella products for customers to purchase.

As part of the celebrations the salon will be handing out free goody bags whilst stocks last with every patch test done for colouring services on 1st, 2nd and 3rd November and a free in house treatment with a cut and blow dry when you quote “Happy 30th”. Also keep an eye out for new offers in January 2019.
