Independent jewellers take keys at brand new East Ham shopping destination
22 January 2024
Blue Jewellers have taken the keys and started their fit out to a 439 sq ft unit at a brand-new shopping centre, The Market Place, found off the busy High Street North in East Ham.
Husband-and-wife
team, Can and Zeynep Uzan, have experience in
the industry spanning two decades and are looking forward to bringing their
unique offer to this corner of East London just in time for Valentine’s Day.
The new
shop will showcase an extensive range of diamonds, gold, silver and gift pieces
as well as a customisation service to provide some unique pieces to jewellery
lovers.
The couple
are also providing the area with a comprehensive watch and jewellery repair
service which will not only bring a new service to East Ham for local shoppers,
but also local jewellery shops who can’t already provide this service.
When asked
what attracted the couple to open their shop in The Market Place Can said: “We
have been looking for a new location for over a year. We found The Market Place
and loved the vibrancy of the area and the excitement that surrounds this being
a brand new development.
“We also
found there was a niche here for what we offer and we’re looking forward to
building a relationship with shoppers and also other local business owners in
the industry.”
The shop
will also be in the market for buying scrap gold, silver and fine jewellery.
Zeynep
said: “We can offer anything from fully custom-made and personalised jewellery
pieces to a basic watch strap resize and battery replacement. These repairs and
alterations take place on the spot making it a really convenient service for
both customers and nearby jewellers.”
The development, which has already delivered 277 new homes, is a joint venture between Barratt Homes,
Land Management and the award-winning Yorkshire based development team from
Dransfield Properties.
The team have created the stunning range of retail, restaurants and café spaces all within an enclosed mall paying attention to the industrial heritage of the site reflected by the Crittall style windows and other design features throughout.
The site was
previously home to the East Ham Market Hall, part of east London’s rich retail
history which was operated for 90 years after being set up to provide business
and employment opportunities for World War One veterans.
Centre
Manager, Aisha Small, said: “We are thrilled to see works now starting on the
units. The centre has already been brought back to life with the opening of
Starbucks who joined us last October.”
Blue
Jewellers will be run by Can and Zeynep initially, but with big plans to expand
their team creating jobs for the local area soon.
The Market
Place units range from 438 sq. ft (40.8sq m) to 2,533 sq. ft (235.34sq m).
