Dransfield Properties Backs Leukaemia Research Big Five-0 Challenge

The Dransfield Properties and PDR Construction charity cyclists were represented at the national launch of Leukaemia Research’s Big Five-0 Challenge in London last week.

 The 18 strong team are among the first companies nationwide to pledge to support the Big Five-0 which has been launched to mark the charity’s 50^th anniversary this year.

 The cyclists recently completed a gruelling 265 mile course from Lyon to Marseilles taking in the peaks of Mont Ventoux and are hoping their fundraising push will have reached the £50,000 mark.

At the launch of the challenge, Chairman of fundraising for Leukaemia Research, Alastair Campbell said: “It is never easy for charities to ask for money and it is certainly harder with the current economic situation. But good causes do not go away with bad times. On the contrary, the need becomes greater.”

 Dean Draper, one of the cyclists who completed this year’s course represented the team at the launch event which was held at Somerset House in London last month.

The money raised by the Dransfield and PDR team will be spent on Leukaemia Research projects at Sheffield Children's Hospital.

Mark Dransfield said: "This was the toughest challenge the cycling team have taken on and we are really hoping we will have reached our target. We are very pleased to be taking part in the Big Five-0 Challenge and to be supporting the work undertaken at Sheffield Children's Hospital."
