Dransfield Cycle Team Gear up for Ryegate Makeover
18 March 2011
A South Yorkshire cycling team, fielded by Dransfield Properties Ltd, will begin work on Friday 18 March on a make-over of The Ryegate Therapy Block in Broomhill, Sheffield.
Mark Dransfield, Managing Director of Dransfield Properties Ltd, and a twenty strong team of friends and family recently cycled 326 miles from Marseille in France to Portofino in Italy to raise money for The Children’s Hospital Charity.
Representatives of the cycling team attended a special presentation at The Ryegate Therapy Block to see what the £15,574 they’d raised would be spent on, and decided they didn’t want to stop there.
The team were so moved by the patients and families they met that they decided to offer their muscle to help complete the refurbishment of the waiting area, gym and meeting room in the Ryegate Therapy Block.
This weekend (18-20 March 2011), Mark Dransfield and Gavin Ward, Partner at Chesterfield based architects WCEC, along with other members of the cycling team,
will work from Friday 18 March until Sunday 20 March on the revamp ( including through the night on Friday to get the revamp finished in time).
Also helping out over the weekend will be staff from the Ryegate Therapy Block and The Children’s Hospital Charity, along with parents who use the facility.
There will be various activities taking place over the weekend including: painting, plastering, fitting new doors, cupboards and blinds, along with putting up signage, artwork and mirrors.
One special helper on Sunday will be former World Superbike champion, James Toseland. A keen supporter of The Children’s Hospital Charity, James has donated £5,000 to The Children’s Hospital Charity to help fund the project.
The Ryegate Therapy Block is the home of the physiotherapy, occupational therapy and hydrotherapy services for children with disabilities in Sheffield and is run by Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, whose work is supported by The Children’s Hospital Charity.
