29 January 2010

The brand new Morrisons store at Willenhall in the Black Country has opened its doors for the first time - creating more than 300 new jobs in the town.

The much needed development, brought forward by Dransfield Properties, has delivered a £30 million supermarket on the town's Wood Street on the site of the former Yale lockworks.

Work started on the site last year and now the store which covers 78,671 sq ft has welcomed its first shoppers. The new Morrisons store also has a petrol filling station and a 541 space car park.

Its hoped the new flagship store will kickstart further regeneration in this part of Willenhall.

Managing Director of Dransfield Properties Ltd, Mark Dransfield, said: "We have worked with Morrisons on a number of sites around the country and we are delighted that this latest development in Willenhall has now opened. The area badly needed a new supermarket with most people leaving the area to do their food shopping. "
