Shoe repair and key cutting specialist Timpson has taken a 270 sq ft kiosk at Marshall’s Yard in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, leaving just six units available on the £39 million mixed use development which opens in Spring next year.

The family owned Timpson business has over 500 outlets across the UK selling personalised gifts, house signs, letterboxes and trophies alongside the more well known shoe repair and locksmith services.

The store will be located in the historic Britannia Building which dates back to 1856.  The building was originally the management office for Marshall’s Britannia Iron Works, once the largest factory complex in Europe.  One of a number of listed structures on the site, the building is undergoing extensive renovation with reclaimed materials to restore the building to its former glory.

Led by the development partnership of Dransfield Properties and Prospect Estates, the Marshalls Yard development comprises 140,000 sq ft retail space, 140,000 sq ft office space, two restaurants and a central piazza area with multi jet fountains.  Construction began in January and is on target to be completed by February next year.

The tenant line up includes Marks & Spencer Simply Food, New Look, JJB Health and Fitness, Costa Coffee, Halfords, Allied carpets, Brantano, Wilkinson, Specsavers, Greggs, Carphone Warehouse, Julian Graves and Ilkeston Co-op Travel.

West Lindsey District Council is relocating its headquarters to the site and work starts on this building next week.

Tim Duffy, Property Manager at Timpson, said: “We are looking forward to trading on Marshalls Yard.  For many years Gainsborough town centre was unable to grow, but with Marshalls Yard set to revitalise the town we think it will be a fantastic opportunity for us.”
