Members of a Morpeth Scout group have been given a mini-makeover to their headquarters thanks to the construction team delivering the town’s new supermarket.

The 4th Morpeth Scout group HQ neighbours the new Morrisons store being delivered by Dransfield Properties which is taking shape at Low Stanners.

And the team from Tolent who are the main contractors on the site decided to pitch in and help when they heard the group needed a few improvements  – carrying out the work completely free of charge.

The site team have created a new area of landscaping as well as a retaining wall and walkway and they’re delighted with the new look to the approach to their premises.

The Tolent team were joined with some of the adult helpers from the group to set about the task of excavating, reinforcing and gravelling the existing walkway which is the main point of access to the building.

The headquarters is attended by almost 150 members each week in which there are 2 Beaver colonies, 2 Cub packs and 2 Scout Troops.

Roger Ashmore, Committee Member of the Scout Group said: “We are delighted with the works which Tolent have done for us and very impressed at the speed in which it was all completed.

“It has completely transformed the surrounding area around the building and it now looks a real showpiece. The Scouts are an educational charity and although the parents of the younger members are asked to contribute towards subscriptions, we do generally attempt to fundraise as much as we can ourselves so to receive such fantastic support from the team at Tolent is incredible and very much appreciated.”

Matt Moore Site Manager said: “We are delighted to have been able to help with this project and everyone involved really enjoyed giving the Scouts a helping hand.”
