Marshall’s Yard in Gainsborough today welcomed Browns Department Store to its already impressive retail line-up.

Browns Gainsborough officially opened to hundreds of shoppers - the company has spent three months and £600,000 transforming the former Carpet Right unit at the award winning shopping centre into a fantastic new boutique department store.

Gainsborough's Mayor Cllr Lesley Rollings cut the ribbon on the new store welcoming the investment and jobs in the town and saying it was a "real honour" to be invited to officially open Browns.

The impressive refurbishment includes a stylish glass lift and the latest in interior design.

Owner, Nicholas Brown, said: “Marshall’s Yard deserved the best when it came to fitting out our fourth store. We believe this will become a flagship store for Gainsborough and will attract people from across the region. We really wanted to give them the wow factor when they walk in and we hope we’ve succeeded.  The shopping centre as a whole provides extremely pleasant surroundings for shoppers and is a fantastic shopping destination.

“This makes us confident we’ve picked the ideal location for a fourth store. Big name brands, never represented in Gainsborough before, have also backed us in this latest venture.”

Menswear brands such as Ted Baker, Gant, Tommy Hilfiger, Barbour and Superdry join top ladieswear labels including Sandwich, East, Phase Eight and White Stuff. Added to the mix is a large range of designer handbags, shoes, fragrances, lingerie and cosmetics including Clarins, Estee Lauder, Clinique and Benefit.

The new boutique department store has created 45 new jobs in the town headed by the new Browns Gainsborough Manager Wendy Stephenson

Marshall’s Yard Assistant Centre Manager, Alison Hall, said: “We are really pleased to have Browns Department Store here at Marshall’s Yard and hope shoppers enjoy their new store. We’ve had some lovely comments from people today about the shop and it really does look fantastic. We’re confident that this will not only encourage our existing customers to keep coming back but also bring new shoppers in to the town.”
