Lime Square’s newest store was opened by a well-known soap star from Manchester at the weekend.

Antony Cotton, who has played Sean Tully in Coronation Street for over 10 years opened the centre’s new Specsavers store on Saturday 22 October when he visits for a routine eye test.

The new 1,151 sq. ft. Specsavers store is a welcome addition to the retail line up at Lime Square, as it features the latest optical and hearcare technology, bringing much needed services to local people in the area.

Specs-wearer Antony, who grew up Manchester, joined the celebrations at the launch party, which also featured balloons, cake, bubbly and entertainment.

Antony says: "I’ve worn glasses for years so I’m very aware of how important regular eye checks are.
“‘I’m delighted to support the launch of the new service this store brings to this area. It’s great to see all of the regeneration that has happened in and around Openshaw – it is much needed and brilliant for local people.’

Also included in the festivities was a comedy street performance from the Dancing Grannies followed by a street dance routine by local group The Nicholson Academy.

Director of the new practice Rachel Harrison said: ‘The addition of Specsavers’ opticians and hearcare services to Lime Square in Openshaw is much needed. Nearby residents will benefit from access to essential eyecare and hearcare services without having to travel too far.

‘The addition of this store here follows a 10 year regeneration project, which has seen the area transform considerably. We are very much looking forward to becoming an additional, important service for the community here.’

Specsavers can be found next to Costa Coffee and Morrisons at Lime Square.

The new store is open seven days per week and will offer hearcare services on two of those days. Those that require further information on the services available should contact the store directly.
