Shoppers welcome new Next store to Morpeth

17 October 2016

Hundreds of shoppers turned out last week to be among the first in the queue at the launch of the newest north east store from the popular retailer Next.

The 11,200 sq. ft. store was officially opened by the Mayor of Morpeth, Cllr Andrew Tebbutt. The company is the final retailer to open for trade in the new town centre development which has been built on the former Morrisons site in Morpeth.

Next joins Pets at Home and Home Bargains who both opened their new stores over the summer – around 40 new jobs have been created at Next with the whole development bringing more than 100 jobs to the town.

The store houses all the latest styles from Next’s newest collections, along with fashion for the whole family in the women’s, children’s and men’s departments.

There is also a homewares department and the country’s largest in store Costa Coffee concessions which enjoys panoramic views from its first floor position and can seat up to 100 people.

The development has been delivered by Dransfield Properties, the company which owns and manages Sanderson Arcade and will be managed alongside the Arcade to the same high standards.

Centre Manager at Sanderson Arcade Medi Parry said: “There was a fantastic crowd to see the new Next store open here in Morpeth and the store has had a great first few days of trading - exceeding its targets for the first day.

“We’re delighted to welcome the Next team, we’re confident that the store will be a very popular addition to the town centre.”

Store opening times are:  Monday - Friday 9.00am to 8.00pm, Saturday 9.00am to 7.00pm, Sunday 10.30am to 4.30pm
