Fox Valley Construction Update - November 2015

12 November 2015

Roofing work on the main retail blocks is now well underway with the roof tiling works being more than 60 per cent completed on Block B - the largest of the three retail blocks at the town centre development.

The construction of the internal partitions is in progress and the staircases are also due to be installed. The installation of the shop fronts will then start over the next couple of weeks.

Brickwork to the central section of the north elevation of Block B is almost complete allowing the curtain walling to be fixed to each of the shop fronts. Glazing work has also started.

Masonry work to the external walls of Block A is almost complete, roof insulation and tiling battens are in place awaiting the fitting of roof vents and fascias.

Works on the first floor have advanced significantly with glazing being installed to the aluminium window, door screens and timber windows are being fitted to the north elevation.

The roof sheeting, welding and fascia works are making good progress on the iconic umbrella shaped coffee shop which looks stunning - the design has been inspired by the paragon frame umbrella patented in Stocksbridge by Samuel Fox in the 1850's.

Structural steel erection started in mid-November on the Aldi block (Block C) and some of the sub-structure masonary has already been laid ahead of programme. A topping out ceremony was held on site on the 3rd November to celebrate this milestone in the project.

Highway works are still ongoing, the footpath adjacent to the Paragon Centre has been relaid after new kerbs and drainage gullies were installed.  Paving works to the car park roadways are set to commence on the 23rd November and continue for 6 weeks.

Head of Communications at Dransfield Properties, Amanda Holmes, said: "The site is changing every week at the moment and its great to see the buildings really taking shape on site. We're also delighted to see the work progressing so well on the Aldi block and that part of the site progressing so well."

Fox Valley is being delivered by South Yorkshire based Dransfield Properties Ltd. Once completed, the development will deliver 32 high quality new retail units, with a 600 space car park and high quality office space.  A housing development with 114 new homes is also being developed by Stonebridge Homes on a neighbouring site.

Dransfield Properties has received an investment of £8,111,040 from the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme 2007- 2013, which is managed by the Department for Communities and Local Government to bring forward the Fox Valley project.
