Work on schedule at brand new town centre scheme in north Sheffield

3 March 2015

Work is progressing well at the Fox Valley development in North Sheffield this week – with the steelwork going up across the 28 acre site and the project really beginning to take shape.

The ambitious £42 million mixed use project will be completed ready for a spring 2016 opening and over the last few weeks work has really progressed on all parts of the site.

The steel frame of the two new office blocks, to be called Samuel House and Maria House after Samuel and Maria Fox, is now completed. The walling and flooring work is due to get underway this week on those buildings which will be completed ready for new businesses to move in by July this year.

The steelwork is also going up this week on one of the main retail blocks and that part of the scheme will start to take shape over the next few weeks.

Grit blasting work has also been completed on the former steelworks building and gym which is being refurbished as part of the project – re-pointing work is underway on the building and new roof tiles will be laid this week.

The first phase of the project has delivered a new roundabout on the A616 Sheffield to Manchester Road. The access off Manchester Road in Stocksbridge is also being upgraded and widened as part of the development  – that work is still on-going and a traffic management system is in place.

Fox Valley is being brought forward by the Barnsley-based firm Dransfield Properties Ltd and is transforming a 28 acre former industrial site off Manchester Road in Stocksbridge, into a vibrant mixed use development with a neighbouring residential development.

The development will deliver around 32 new retail, café and restaurant units ranging from 635 to 16,000 sq. ft. as well as high spec office space from 600 - 10,000 sq. ft. A new town centre car park and landscaping are also part of the scheme.

Amanda Holmes, Head of Communications at Dransfield Properties, said: “We’re really starting to see a huge transformation on site now with the steelwork going up and work progressing well on all parts of the site.

"We’d like to thank everyone in the area for their patience through the road works on Manchester Road; the traffic lights will be in place until mid-April while this section of the highway improvements is completed.”

Dransfield Properties has received an investment of £8,111,040 from the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme 2007- 2013, which is managed by the Department for Communities and Local Government to bring forward the Fox Valley project.
