Brand new bike shop concept announced for Sheffield’s new Fox Valley development

24 February 2015

Plans for a brand new concept in cycle retail headed by the pro-cyclist Tony Gibb have been announced for Sheffield’s Fox Valley development.

Called Full Gas Bikes the 4,000 sq. ft. store will bring a completely new approach to the traditional bike shop format with a contemporary design and layout and a range to cater for all ages and abilities.

Tony Gibb, a World Championship Silver medallist and Eurosport commentator, has developed the concept and will be opening his first store at Fox Valley in north Sheffield – less than two miles away from the route of the 2014 Tour de France Grand Depart.

Full Gas Bikes will house a test track, coffee shop and full service area including bike cleaning and has been designed throughout with the cyclist in mind – from seasoned riders to newcomers to the growing sport.

There are plans for regular events and ride outs and the store has been designed to have an airy velodrome feel with a mezzanine floor for special events.

Work started on the Fox Valley development last year – the centre is on schedule for a spring 2016 opening and will deliver around 25 new retail units as well as high spec offices and a neighbouring housing development.

The scheme is being delivered by South Yorkshire retail property specialists Dransfield Properties Ltd and will be accessed off the A616 Sheffield to Manchester Road as well as Manchester Rd in Stocksbridge – new cycle routes and links to the centre are being created as part of the scheme.

Tony said: “This a fantastic location for our first Full Gas Bikes store. The Tour de France coming to Sheffield last year really focussed the area on cycling, there’s such a passion for it here and it’s definitely something which is growing in popularity.

“Cycling has been a huge part of my life for the last 25 years and coming from that background I wanted to take my own knowledge of the sport to create something completely different, I really don’t think there is anything like this in the UK at the moment.

“It’s a completely full service shop and we’ve designed it to offer something for everyone – and the best thing about it is that it’s on the doorstep of some of the country’s best mountain and road biking routes.”

Full Gas Bikes will sell a fantastic range of cycling accessories and bikes. Managing Director of Dransfield Properties, Mark Dransfield said he was delighted to welcome the company to Fox Valley.

He added: “We have aimed from the outset to offer something really different here at Fox Valley and Full Gas Bikes really is a completely new idea. Tony has got a great vision and some fantastic ideas and we can’t wait to see the store when it’s  completed and ready to open next year.

“We’re on the countdown now to a Spring 2016 opening and we’ll be making a number of further announcements over the coming weeks and months about other companies joining our line up at Fox Valley.”
