Costa has announced the company is opening a brand new coffee shop at Lime Square in east Manchester.

The nation’s favourite coffee shop brand is taking a prime unit at the centre, fronting the busy Ashton Old Road in Openshaw.

Over the next few weeks the 2,700 sq. ft. unit will be transformed into an attractive and modern new coffee shop over two floors, ready for opening later in the spring.

The new coffee shop joins retailers including Morrisons, Poundland, Card Factory and B&M Bargains. Lime Square is also home to a 24 hour fitness centre operated by the Gym Group and Wynsors World of Shoes are currently fitting out their new store at the centre.

The new Lime Square Costa Coffee is expected to open in May and around 12 part and full time jobs will be created – the internal fit out work on the unit will be completed ready for the spring opening.

The store will be run by one of Costa’s franchise partners, Sim Trava Ltd, who operate several Costa Coffee franchises across the north of England.

Simon Vardy, from Sim Trava, said: “As a Manchester based franchise, we are delighted to have secured such a prominent unit in the excellent Lime Square centre and our team are looking forward to becoming part of the Openshaw community.”

Lime Square is a brand new district centre in east Manchester, anchored by an 80,000 sq. ft. Morrisons store, the centre is owned and managed by South Yorkshire based Dransfield Properties Ltd.

Retail Property Director at Dransfield Properties, Andrew Malley, said: “Costa is a great company which we have had the pleasure of working with for many years on a number of our developments.

"We’ve welcomed a number of new businesses in recent months at Lime Square and we’re confident that the new Costa Coffee shop will be another very popular addition to the centre and look forward to the opening in the spring.”
