Pudding Parlour serves up a brand new store in Morpeth

6 January 2015

A family run business which produces delicious desserts with an American twist is opening a brand new store at Sanderson Arcade in the New Year.

The Pudding Parlour, run by brother and sister Kristy Giblin and Greg Small, was launched in 2013 at Haugh Lane Industrial Estate in Hexham.

Since then the pudding loving pair have opened a concession in the Fenwick’s Food Hall in Newcastle and have now set their sights on their second store which will open in Morpeth in February 2015.

Over the next few weeks they’ll be transforming the former Sky TV unit in the piazza area at Sanderson Arcade into a brand new dessert boutique - selling a range of mouth-watering sweet treats.

Originally a home based enterprise The Pudding Parlour was born out of a love of deliciously indulgent American style desserts – popular recipes include Cookie Dough Pie, Caramel Snickerdoodles, Mississippi Mud Pie and a range of delicious cheesecakes.

As well as filling their own cabinets with delicious hand-made sweets and desserts the Pudding Parlour also supplies a number of pubs and restaurants across the north east and has built up a strong following over the last two years.

Kristy started the business through her own love of baking for family and friends as well as producing innovative recipes which weren’t available anywhere else.

After recently graduating from the same university as his sister, Sheffield Hallam, Greg suggested the pair join forces and turn Kristy’s unique creations into a business opportunity for them both.

A business plan was created and the duo set to work on turning a passion for American baking into an incredibly successful business and well known brand across the North of England.

After starting the business from their homes, both in Stocksfield, The Pudding Parlour opened it’s first shop in Hexham just four months later and has grown from strength to strength, culminating in the opening of The Pudding Parlour at Fenwick in the summer of 2014.

Now they’re both looking forward to adding Morpeth to the list of Pudding Parlour locations and bringing their unique twist on desserts to the town.

Kristy said: “The business has really grown and taken off and people seem to love what we make, we’re always coming up with new ideas and adding to our range.

"We have been looking for another store for some time and Sanderson Arcade is a fantastic location for us.  We’ve got some really exciting ideas for how the store will look and we can’t wait to open up in Morpeth.”

Kristy and Greg are currently recruiting for staff for their Morpeth store, who can share their passion for puddings.

Centre Manager at Sanderson Arcade, Medi Parry, said:  “The Pudding Parlour is something really different for our shoppers, the cakes and desserts look, and taste, delicious! The new store will be a fantastic addition to the Arcade and we’re really looking forward to the opening and to welcoming Kristy, Greg and the team to the Arcade.”
