Penistone FM on the move to new development in the town
Penistone FM has signed a 5 year lease for Suite 7 in the prestigious new Penistone 1 complex, developed by Dransfield Propertied Ltd.
The community radio station will soon be broadcasting on 95.7FM from a new 693 sq. ft. office in the town centre development which was completed earlier this year.
The move means all the offices are now occupied at Penistone 1 and just two of the ground floor commercial units are currently available to let.
Penistone FM began transmitting from its current home on the upper floors of a retail/office unit in the centre of Penistone in June 2009 and Ofcom recently renewed the station’s FM operating licence until June 2019.
Martin Sugden, Station Director said, “I’m very proud to be able to announce this re-location for Penistone FM, which is exciting news for all our listeners, presenters & clients. We have had a happy five years in our current location but have always planned to grow with time and offer more.
“The new easy access location maintains Penistone FM’s brand as being at ‘The Heart of the Community’ and will allow us to improve our programmes & services whilst, at the same time, offering the ability to become part of a highly successful community radio station to many more members of the public. The support through an “Awards for All “grant is amazing and would like to thank them for their help in this development."
The move will be a gradual transition of services to the new studios once that building works, transfer of equipment and testing has taken place. Penistone FM has been supported by Voluntary Action Barnsley, for their funding advice, and Dransfield Properties Ltd for their support and assistance in making this possible.
The station will continue broadcasting from their current location until the new studio is ready but intend to be fully re-located by the end of March 2015. All services will be unaffected by the move.
Dave Hale, development surveyor at Dransfield Properties said: “We are delighted to welcome Martin and the Penistone FM team to our office and commercial development at Penistone 1. We wish everyone at the station every success in the new premises.”
Dransfield Properties attracted £1.2 million of investment from the European Union to bring forward this final phase of the Penistone town centre regeneration project through the European Regional Development Fund, part of the support for the region's economic development through the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme 2007-13.
