Barnardo’s children’s store opens in Tunstall

20 August 2014

The children’s charity Barnardo’s is to open a new specialist children’s store in Tunstall on Saturday (August 23rd)  - at Alexandra Park, developed by Dransfield Properties.

The store off Scotia Road, Tunstall, will offer bargain-hunting parents and shoppers a new service – a one-stop shop for children, selling children’s wear, nursery furniture, prams and buggies as well as toys and games.

And in addition to the range of good quality used children’s clothing on sale, the new store also offers shoppers a selection of new clothing from the charity’s own new range of babywear.

The shop will open from 9am to 5:30pm Monday to Saturday and 10:00am – 4pm on Sundays. The charity has taken one of the two remaining units in the final phase of the development which was completed earlier this year.

Staff and volunteers are appealing for donations of any unwanted baby and children's clothing, prams, nursery furniture and toys which can be dropped off at the store.

There are also volunteering opportunities available so whether you want to improve your CV or meet new people and have fun whilst supporting the work of Barnardo's please apply in store.

Barnardo’s retail area business manager Belinda Germain said: “We are delighted to be able to expand our offer to local shoppers in Tunstall and surrounding areas and look forward to giving local families a great service.
“We’d also be extremely grateful to receive any donations of unwanted children’s clothing and toys.”

Head of Communications at Dransfield Properties, Amanda Holmes, said: "We are delighted to welcome Barnardo's to Alexandra Park with the charity's new format children's store. We're also making an announcement very shortly about the final unit on the centre and its great to see this final phase of the project now completed and soon to be fully occupied."

Alexandra Park is also home to a Primary Care Centre. Boots Pharmacy and a DW Sports and Fitness Centre. Earlier this year Card Factory, Iceland and Home Bargains also joined the line-up at the development which is built around a central car park and the landmark Shard sculpture.
