3 July 2014

The steelwork is going up this week on the new Aldi store at Slaithwaite in West Yorkshire.

Demolition work is now completed and the site is cleared and ready for the steel frame of the building to start taking shape over the next few weeks ready for the roofing and cladding works to start later in the month.

The main contractors PDR Construction started work in  March this year on the site of the former Colne Mill off Britannia Road in Slaithwaite.

The building has been designed in natural stone and corten steel - the plans for the new 12,100 sq. ft. sales area store were approved in November last year.

The development, being brought forward by Barnsley based Dransfield Properties Ltd, will also deliver a new 90 space car park as well as highway improvements in the area.

The construction work is scheduled to be completed for the new store to open in this for Christmas 2014.

Head of Communications at Dransfield Properties, Amanda Holmes said: "Work is on schedule for opening before Christmas, its great to see the progress which has been made in the last few weeks and the steel structure taking shape."
