Work on the final phase of Openshaw’s Lime Square retail park is progressing well with the main construction work due to be completed next month.

The Gym Group is moving into the development in June to transform a 15,000 sq. ft. unit in a key position on the site into a brand new state-of-the-art gym which will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Further retail space is also being created in this phase of works at the busy east Manchester shopping centre which is home to the striking Steamhammer sculpture.

The Gym Group, which has 44 gyms across the UK,  plans to open the new site in November and prior to opening new members can join The Gym Openshaw online, contract-free, for £10.99 per month.

The company’s mission is to make health and fitness facilities accessible and affordable to everyone without compromising on quality.  Members of The Gym Openshaw can enjoy a wide variety of free classes and personal trainer sessions to help reach their fitness goals.

Manchester resident Rob Neave has been appointed General Manager of The Gym Openshaw.  Prior to this role he was the Assistant General Manager for The Gym Manchester for five years and he will be supported by Dylan Noble who previously worked with Rob as a PT and joins the new site as Assistant Manager.

Rob said: “We offer affordable and accessible gym membership in a great environment and we can’t wait to open the doors to the new gym here in Openshaw.  It’s in a great location and members can enjoy plenty of free parking.

"It’s exciting to see The Gym Openshaw really taking shape now and we’re looking forward to talking to people about how they can become a member over the next few weeks.”

Lime Square is anchored by an 80,000 sq. ft. Morrison’s store and this latest phase extends a retail line up which also includes McDonalds, B&M, Poundland and Brighthouse.

Head of Communications at Dransfield Properties, Amanda Holmes, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Rob and his team to Lime Square and look forward to seeing the brand new gym completed later this year.”
