Penistone 1 – the brand new office and commercial development in the South Yorkshire market town – is now completed and a special open day is planned for next week.

The attractive new development on a key site in the town has been delivered by local firm  Dransfield Properties Ltd and the company will be throwing open the doors from 10am to 3pm on  Thursday April 3rd for a special open day.

It’s the first chance to see the scale and quality of the project and the impressive internal fit since the main construction work was completed earlier this month. Work started on the St Mary’s Street development in May last year.

The open day follows an official opening which is planned at 10.30am on Wednesday April 2nd where the leader of Barnsley Council Cllr Sir Stephen Houghton CBE will be guest of honour.

The new development has a range of high specification office suites available starting at 435 sq. ft. as well as street fronting units from 820 sq. ft. to 2,560 sq. ft.

Penistone 1 is the final phase of the town centre regeneration scheme; the £15 million scheme included a new Tesco foodstore and town centre car park as well as an award winning oak built market hall. The town’s fire and ambulance stations were also relocated in 2009 to brand new purpose built premises at Springvale in Penistone.

Managing Director at Dransfield Properties, Mark Dransfield, said: “This has been a complex development which we started work on more than five years ago with the relocation of the Fire and Ambulance Stations in Penistone. It’s great that we are now at the stage of completing this final phase of the regeneration scheme.

“In Penistone 1 we’ve sought to deliver a really well designed and impressive building which compliments the rest of the town. I think the result is something that everyone who has worked on the development can be proud of.”

Cllr Sir Stephen Houghton CBE, said: "I would like to congratulate Dransfield Properties Limited on the new development in Penistone.  This is a huge boost to the Penistone and Barnsley economies both economically and architecturally which helps cement Penistone's role as one of the key market towns in the region."

The leading local estate agency Simon Blyth is the first company to open for business at Penistone 1 and they’re being joined by a number of other local firms including QED Financial Services and Café Generation who have both taken street fronting units.

Dransfield Properties attracted £1.2 million of investment from the European Union to bring forward the project with grant funding through the European Regional Development Fund as part of the support for the region's economic development through the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme 2007-13.
