Simon Blyth opens for business at Penistone’s brand new development

12 March 2014

The leading local estate agency Simon Blyth is the first company to open for business at the brand new commercial and office development on St Mary’s Street in Penistone.

Called Penistone 1 the impressive new development has been delivered by the Barnsley company Dransfield Properties.

The four strong team at Simon Blyth moved into their new premises earlier this month – making them the first firm to take up occupancy at in the town centre scheme.

Simon Blyth has seven offices across West and South Yorkshire – the new premises have given the Penistone team a more prominent position with more window space as well as a better laid out office for both customers and staff.

The main construction work on the development was completed last month and internal work is now underway on the first floor offices and the car park off Back Lane is also being installed.

A second ground floor unit is currently being fitted out as a new café in the town and other companies will be moving in over the coming weeks.

Proprietor of the estate agency, Simon Blyth, said: “We are delighted to have moved to our new premises, this is a great location for us and we look forward to continuing to serve our customers across the Penistone area from our fantastic new branch office.

"The architecture of the development is lovely and the position is great for us, we are very pleased to be part of the regeneration of this part of the town.”

As well as Simon Blyth and Café Generation, the financial advice firm QED Financial is also taking one of the street fronting units and further announcements will be made over the next few weeks.

Development surveyor for Dransfield Properties, Dave Hale, said: “Simon Blyth is a great local company and we are delighted they’ve opened for business at our development in Penistone.

"We wish them all the very best in their new premises and look forward to other businesses joining them and moving into their units in the coming weeks.”

Dransfield Properties has attracted £1.2 million of investment from the European Union to bring forward this final phase of the project with grant funding through the European Regional Development Fund as part of the support for the region's economic development through the Yorkshire and Humber ERDF Programme 2007-13.

The earlier phases of the £15 million town centre regeneration scheme included a new Tesco foodstore and town centre car park as well as an award winning oak built market hall. The town’s fire and ambulance stations were also relocated in 2009 to brand new purpose built premises at Springvale in Penistone.

An open day is being held on Thursday April 3rd for businesses interested in viewing the new office space at Penistone 1. The event will run from 10am until 3pm.  For further information contact David Hale on 01226 360644.
