The steel frame of the new units at Lime Square, east Manchester has now been completed – and building work is on schedule for a summer completion.

The contractors PDR moved on to site in November last year to start work on a brand new 15,000 sq. ft. gym as well as further new retail units at the popular shopping centre which is anchored by an 80,000 sq. ft. Morrison’s store.

The Gym Group is taking a key unit fronting Ashton Old Road and will be joined by other new stores including the mobile phone company Phones 4 U. An extra 42 car parking spaces are also being created close to the gym.

They’re expected to start fitting out their new units in May ready to open later in the summer – joining a retail line up which already includes B&M stores, Poundland and McDonalds.

Now the steel frame has been completed work will get underway on the roof and the cladding on the development ready for a scheduled completion of the main building work at the end of June.

Lime Square has been delivered by retail developers Dransfield Properties Ltd working in partnership with New East Manchester and Manchester City Council as part of the strategic regeneration of this part of the city.

Head of Communications at Dransfield Properties, Amanda Holmes, said: “It’s great to see the steel frame completed at Lime Square and work progressing on this final phase of construction. We look forward to welcoming our new tenants to Lime Square this summer.”
