The team from the BBC's Top Gear programme were spotted in Penistone - filming for the show's new series next to the Gateway development site in the town.

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May were seen in the town at the end of May - tinkering with a hovercraft on Penistone showground for one of their popular TV show stunts invention stunts.

Shoppers and staff at the TESCO store popped out to see what all the fuss was about. In between filming the presenters chatted to fans and were spotted at the site of the new Gateway development whwere work started at the beginning of May.

Contractors PDR have now completed the digging out on the site in preparation for the next phase of construction. This week they will be working on the reinforced concrete for the retaining wall and that work is expected to last around three to four weeks.

The next stage of work will see the steel frame of the buildings start to appear on site in the next five or six weeks. Work is currently on schedule for an October completion.
