Sanderson Arcade Centre Manager Shortlisted for National Award

16 May 2013

Medi Parry – the centre manager at Sanderson Arcade in Morpeth – has been shortlisted for a top industry award.

Medi, aged 29, who took over the running of the Arcade 18 months ago, is one of the finalists in the annual Sceptre Awards, organised to recognise excellence and good practice in the shopping centre industry.

She has been shortlisted for the Centre Manager (small centre) category for her hard work in introducing new initiatives and events, as well as a growth in footfall and overseeing key tenant changes at the Arcade over the last year and a half.

One of the new initiatives Medi has introduced is the Arcade’s own annual awards – held for the first time in September last year, she has also overseen key changes which have resulted in the centre being fully let for the first time since it opened in November 2009.

The winners of the Sceptre Award will be announced at a ceremony being held at the Dorchester Hotel in London at the end of June. Two years ago the Arcade itself was highly commended in the same awards in the Development Team of the Year Category.

Medi was nominated for the award by Dransfield Properties, the company which owns and manages Sanderson Arcade.

Managing Director Mark Dransfield said: “We are really pleased to hear that Medi is one of the finalists in her category in the Sceptre Awards. I know there are a lot of people in the industry working extremely hard and coming up with innovative and fresh ideas and Medi is definitely one of them.

“Everyone at the Arcade and at Dransfield Properties will have their fingers crossed for her - we certainly think she deserves to win and hope the judges agree.”

Medi, originally from Wales, was promoted to centre manager at Sanderson Arcade in January 2012 after working for two years as Assistant Centre Manager at Marshall’s Yard in Gainsborough which is also owned and managed by Dransfield Properties.

She said: “The organisers say the standard has been really high this year for the Sceptre Awards so I’m obviously very pleased and flattered to be shortlisted and am looking forward to the event next month.”
