Fundraising recognised by children’s charity

The company behind Morpeth’s award winning Sanderson Arcade development has had a plaque unveiled at the shopping centre this week to recognise its fundraising efforts for the NSPCC in the North East.

Dransfield Properties Limited raised £15,484 last year for the children’s charity by fielding a team which cycled 360 miles from Portofino to Rome.

Funds raised by the company have gone towards purchasing toys and equipment for younger children who are helped at the charity’s service centre in Newcastle.

The centre offers services to help some of the most vulnerable children, young people and their families across the North East. These focus on helping children and young people whose lives have been affected by sexual abuse, children from minority ethnic groups, and children and young people who are looked after by the local authority.

NSPCC head of community fundraising for the North East, Wendy Bates said: “We were delighted when Dransfield Properties decided to support us with their cycling challenge last year. The money they have raised will make a real difference for younger children who access our services locally and it’s great that their support has now been officially recognised.”

Managing director of Dransfield Properties, Mark Dransfield said: “When we were first approached by the Morpeth branch of the NSPCC to help with their fundraising we decided to visit the centre in Newcastle to find out more about the work the charity supports.  We were all struck by the dedication of the staff and the importance of their role in the region in supporting children and their families.

“We were very proud to support the charity in the bike ride last year and extremely touched that our bike rider’s efforts have been recognised with a plaque at the Arcade.”

Medi Parry, centre manager at Sanderson Arcade was joined at the plaque unveiling by fundraising volunteers from the NSPCC’s Morpeth committee, who first encouraged Dransfield Properties and Sanderson Arcade to support the charity.
