Morpeth Vets Move to Their New Premises

17 July 2012

Staff at Morpeth's Robson and Prescott Veterinary Practice have moved across to their brand new animal hospital - developed as part of the new Morrisons supermarket in Morpeth.

The Robson and Prescott practice, which has a client base of 32,000, has relocated from Low Stanners in Morpeth to the former Northumberland County Council salt depot site at Whorral Bank.

The expansion is creating seven new jobs, including two veterinary surgeons, and the building - purpose built to hospital standards - makes Robson & Prescott one of the North East's biggest veterinary surgeries.

The new building is three times bigger than the previous base in Staithes Lane, which had been home to the practice since 1982 - that building is now due for demolition as part of the Morrison's supermarket development.

The new practice has four operating theatres, a dental suite, laboratory, X-ray room and ultrasound facilities as well as separate wards for dogs, cats, birds, small animals and exotic pets. Parking for 60 cars, animal transporters and horse boxes is also provided.

Robson & Prescott practice manager Shelagh Prescott, said: "So many people in Northumberland are talking about the new site because it is in such a prominent position. I think we have a most attractive building which blends into the countryside and surrounding landscape."

Head of Communications at Dransfield Properties Amanda Holmes, said: "We are delighted that the practice staff have moved to their new site. It really is a fantastic facility from which the practice can continue to grow. We wish everyone at Robson and Prescott all the very best in their new premises."
