Selby's Market Cross Shopping Centre has attracted another new national retailer to the line up.

BrightHouse, the UK’s largest weekly payment retailer, is taking over a number of units in the heart of Market Cross with a brand new store which will cover 3,917sq ft.

The company has just started work fitting out the new store which is expected to be ready to open at the end of June, creating around ten new jobs in the town.

Brighthouse has created one large unit from the former Lemon and Lime shop, Osteria 23 and part of the smaller Tickles unit - leaving just one small  kiosk available to let at the centre.

The move has given the local cafeteria and deli Osteria 23 the opportunity to move to a larger unit at the centre previously occupied by Yeomans who have now closed their Selby store.

Owner Arianna Muzzu said she is looking forward to moving across to the new premises. She added: "The business is doing really well.  We should be open by the middle or end of June and we are going to have a veranda outside. I am looking forward to re-opening. I want to say a big thank-you to all our customers for their support.”

Head of Communications at Dransfield Properties, Amanda Holmes, said: "We are delighted to be welcoming BrightHouse to Market Cross, they are a great addition to the centre. The changes at the centre have also given Osteria the opportunity to expand to bigger premises and we are looking forward to all the work being completed hopefully by the end of June."
