Barnsley based retail property specialist Dransfield Properties Ltd is one of the companies backing British hopeful Fiona Harrison – a new driver in the Great Britain women’s two man bobsleigh team.
28-year-old Fiona hails from Hoyland near Barnsley and is now based in Sheffield. She’s previously enjoyed success as a brake woman for Nicola Minichiello and is now looking forward to proving herself in the hot seat for the 2014 Winter Olympics.
As a bobsleigh driver Fiona will travel at speeds of up to 90 miles an hour. Later this month she is due to compete in the European Cup – with her sights set on the 2014 Olympics on the Russian Black Sea.
Dransfield Properties, based in Tankersley, near Barnsley, has agreed an initial one year sponsorship deal with Fiona and everyone at the company is watching her progress with interest.
Managing Director, Mark Dransfield, said: “I’m always impressed by anyone with the drive and ambition it takes to be at the top of a sport like bobsleigh.
“When Fiona came to see us her passion and commitment was clear to see and we are very pleased to be able to play our own small part in helping her and the team.”
Fiona, who spends five months of the year training and competing in the Alps and North America, added: “It’s great to have the support of the team at Dransfield Properties, at this level being able to fully concentrate on the sport is vital.
“To develop into a successful driver will take a great deal of focus and commitment and I can’t wait for the challenge to begin! We’re really looking forward to the European Cup and a full winters’ training schedule.”
Fiona is looking to secure further sponsorship from other local companies interested in supporting the women’s two man bobsleigh team, anyone interested should contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org
