Work Progressing on Fire and Ambulance Station in Penistone!

7 April 2009

Work is progressing well on the Fire and Ambulance Stations at Penistone - the new facilities are being built as part of the town centre regeneration scheme.

The first turf was cut on this first phase of the £15 million development back in February, and now the vehicle storage depot AND the council offices are almost complete with Clark Construction making good progress on the fire and ambulance buildings.

The complex, at the Springvale Depot in Penistone, is on schedule to be completed by the summer  ready for the fire and ambulance workers to relocate from their present stations at Stottercliffe Road.

The stations are currently based in the town centre, on part of the site which is being redeveloped under the £15 million town centre project. Relocating the facilities is a vital part of delivering the new scheme in the town.

The town centre scheme will bring a new Tesco foodstore to Penistone as well as a major redevelopment of the markets area and a new, much needed 190-space car park. An all weather bowling green is also being created as part of the development plans.

The emergency services will be based in separate buildings alongside each other which have been designed to the very latest guidelines and specifications.

Mark Dransfield Managing Director of Barnsley based Dransfield Properties said: “We are delighted with how work is progressing at Springvale and looking forward to these new facilties being completed this summer."
