5 January 2009

Yeoman’s Outdoors – the UK’s largest independent camping and outdoors retailer – are the latest High Street store to take a unit at the Sanderson Arcade development in Morpeth, Northumberland.

Yeoman’s are to take a new unit covering 1,380 square feet in the new £32 million development which is currently under construction in the North East market town.

A phased programme of openings will see the new Yeoman’s store open for business early next summer.

Sanderson Arcade is being brought forward by Morpeth II – the development partnership of Dransfield Properties Ltd and Ethel Austin Properties Ltd. The scheme will create 250 new jobs in Morpeth.

Yeoman’s will join other high street names including the anchor tenant M&S as well as New Look, Laura Ashley, Waterstones and Lakeland.

The Chesterfield based company has opened two other new stores this year on Dransfield-owned developments, one at Market Cross in Selby and the other at St Andrew’s Retail Park in Hull.

The company started trading in 1904 and now has more than 70 stores nationwide.

Operations Director for Yeoman’s, Roger Milner, said: “We are delighted to be part of the great line up at Sanderson Arcade and looking forward to opening for trade in Northumberland next year.

“We are currently seeing a great increase in the numbers of people taking camping holidays and we are confident Morpeth will be a great location for our product lines.”

The news comes as The Jewellers Guild has also announced plans to take 500 sq ft office unit in the Sanderson Arcade development. The company is relocating its Morpeth store to one of the key units on the new development.

The Sanderson Arcade scheme will deliver an elegantly designed Edwardian style arcade and mall with 85,000 sq ft of purpose built retail space, a new town centre bus interchange and 25,000 sq ft of offices is also being created as part of the town centre scheme.

Managing Director of Dransfield Properties Ltd, Mark Dransfield, said: “Yeoman’s will be a welcome addition to what is a great tenant line up for Sanderson Arcade in Morpeth. We have some strong retailers who are keen to be trading in the town. It is testament to the confidence there is in the town that we only have a few units left to let. “
