Young musicians to add to Christmas Switch on festivities
Musicians from Queen Elizabeth High School will provide festive entertainment for the Marshall’s Yard Christmas Switch on event this Friday,
This year sees a double switch on for Gainsborough, the first in the Market Place where the fun begins at 4.30 pm with music, children’s rides and festive food leading up to a grand switch on at 6.30 pm.
The action will then move to Marshall’s Yard, where the musicians from Queen Elizabeth High School will perform around the centre’s illuminated Christmas tree to greet people as they arrive.
Father Christmas will once again host the proceedings, with the switch on performed by pupils from Queen Elizabeth High School at 6.45 pm.
Marshall’s Yard is set to be the venue for a number of concerts by the school over the next 12 months. This will provide fantastic entertainment from some of the region’s finest young musicians, and at the same time help to raise funds for the school for it’s bid to become a centre of excellence in Music.
David Smart, headteacher at Queen Elizabeth High School, said: “We’re delighted to be working closely with Marshall’s Yard and our Christmas
performance on November 16 is set to be the first of many. These concerts
will allow our musicians to reach a much wider audience and I’m sure visitors to Marshall’s Yard will be very impressed with what they hear.”
Richard Hill, centre manager at Marshall’s Yard, added: “We are always looking out for wayts to enhance the shopping experience at Marshall’s Yard and are confident that musical entertainment from youngsters at Queen Elizabeth High School will go down a treat. Their performance on 18 November will add a real sense of entertainment to the evening and we’re looking forward to working with the school through the year.”
